It was an odd experience, buying my first antique piece. The USB is apparently an object used in conjunction with computers to save and physically transfer information and media? (omg didn’t they have email back then??) Ok I used a USB in high school and all that, but buying one in woolies last week was a blast from the past. Much like the VCR, it was something I was familiar with and used but one day simply was replaced and disappeared. Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud, Email, Airdrop, Bluetooth, WiFi are all at our disposal, why use a USB when you can use something intangible to do the same job, quicker, I might add. It was just a reminder that technology is actually moving right now, as I sit and write this post. A tool I used daily and couldn’t live without a few years ago is almost odd and archaic now (ok that’s a little extreme). God, who knows, in a few years WiFi will probably have been replaced by something else, and iPhones will be like rocks. But hey, I had to get 4 seasons of Game of Thrones to play on my TV somehow, and I don’t have a HDMI cable. USB’s aren’t that bad.
