Review: This Week in T.V

It’s the end of September a.k.a the most exciting time of the year in the world of American television as summer shows draw to a close, the fall shows resume from there summer hiatus, a slew of new shows begin and of course a time of celebration with the Emmy Awards.

WOOOOO, after all these years Breaking Bad finally one the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series….. Very long overdue

So here we are with my bite sized review of all the television I’ve been watching this week.

Breaking Bad, Season 5 Episode 15 – Granite State

Wow, yet again another extremely potent and emotional episode of Breaking Bad, the 2nd last ep EVER might I add. While it wasn’t as heart wrenching as the previous week’s incredibly tense episode, this week certainly wasn’t short of powerful scenes, from the incredibly sympathy evoking scenes of Walt out in the Cabin to the terrifying ones of Skyler being threatened by Todd and of course Andrea’s death….. With only one more episode to go it is crazy to think how Vince Gilligan and Co. are going to conclude one of the best shows on television.

Glee, Season 5 Episode 1 – Love, Love, Love

The first part of the Glee season finale and the Beatles tribute episode was definitely jam packed with typical Glee showstopping numbers, colourful scenes and optimism, however it was quite an uneasy episode to watch with the obvious elephant in the room being actor Cory Monteith’s death.

Hostages, Season 1 Episode 1 – Pilot

The first episode of this fresh new series boasting a stellar cast of Dylan McDermott and Toni Collette made a very decent first impression, however if you have viewed the trailer for the show it pretty much contains every noteworthy moment of the pilot so little was left to be surprised by. It’s quite hard to imagine where the show will go after the first episode but I am certainly intrigued.

The Blacklist, Season 1 Episode 1 – Pilot

I will definitely be giving this show a pass, it was extremely cheesy and over the top and the acting was terrible.

New Girl. Season 3 Episode 2 – Nerd

Another solid episode of this infectious comedy, however it has yet to make a distinctive mark on me this season, hopefully this will change in upcoming episodes.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Season 1 Episode 1 – Pilot

I was incredibly nervous coming into this show as I am a HUGE fan of anything Joss Whedon so I place incredibly high expectations on his work. The show definitely didn’t disappoint though. It is filled with great characters, incredibly staged action scenes especially for television, that characteristic Joss Whedon humour and most importantly an incredibly intriguing story.

The Crazy Ones, Season 1 Episode 1 – Pilot

An incredibly fun comedy staring Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar, a definite watch if you’re seeking light entertainment.
