Reflection for Audio Collage
Before the recording, I just type some idea on my computer which can let me know what kind of voice I’m going to record later, However, when I went to outside with my partner and when I listened a lot of sound in school environment, the structure and idea was already off my mind. I recorded sound that if I heard, more common voice around us, like people’s communication, and tram’s sound. I think every sound is amazing, but when I select sound from zoom recording, I did not have idea, I thought that sound did not have any connection, which was my biggest regret. Finally, I selected seven sounds, which are tram’s sound, sound of running water, the sound of an electric door opening, the bird sound, air conditioning sound, the sound of green light and people’s walking sound.
During editing, I still had no idea how to connect those sound, even How to use those sound. For the original recording, there had too many useless sound, so I cut off that part, however, one resource, there were only two or three seconds that I can use, the final work should be a two minutes clip, so this was a big problem for me. I back to the idea that I made before the recording, I saw there write I can make a comparison between the noise city and quiet natural environment. So I used the available resources to make this work. I gave up my original idea, which using the big part noise compare to big part of quiet, I tried this way but that too boring, and I used the contrast in small discontinuous, I think which more interesting. In the last half minute, I created a people walking to the natural place and listen the bird sound, I think that is the good ending for the work.
Actually, I do not really satisfied with this assessment, because the recording resource is too small, the sound sample is not enough, and the final word do not have a very consistent and impact. However, this is my first time to touch the audition and sound design area, in the future, I will learn from it, and recording is important, which is the sound foundation.
