Is it possible that despite all the success in the world and being so good that people can’t ignore you, you can still not enjoy your work or have any job satisfaction.
In the car with my mum last night I asked about how when I was in primary school she quit her job and went to university to follow her passion for child education and train to be a school teacher. I also asked about how she found working in a job that she had no passion for and how it compares to how she finds working in her passion.
It turns out she was quite successful at her old job at Telstra, she had been promoted numerous times while she was there, had had multiple pay raises and was recognised as one of the best workers at their worksite.
But none of this was enough to make her satisfied in her position, I guess at least for her, Newport’s theory doesn’t apply, and I’m sure there are plenty more people out there who were in similar situations to mum.
