Week 11-Blog Post

2ND– 6TH OCT

On Monday, Items that were requested by the AFI were looked over, including any other items that could be of use for the exhibit to convey the prompt of the assessment piece.

On Wednesday, the layout was discussed and viewed at the capitol itself to picture an excellent way to present the items within the cabinets and tables that will be there in the open-plan space. This includes the glass cabinet displaying the artifacts from the Capitols collection, which will entail the life of the building with items that were part of the experience during its early years. Finally, the table displayed in the upper foyer area with items from the AFI collection and any images from the state library catalog. With only two of us at the capitol on Wednesday, we made sure to relay what was done to our missing group member regarding layout options and to make sure we had an idea of how we would like it to be laid out.

We also confirmed and locked in for Tuesday the 10th as the primary setup for the items retrieved from the cultural collections. The labels were tricky to create as some items were simple objects such as candy boxes or ice cream containers. I learned to develop and reimagine the story behind these objects to show people at the exhibit how it relates to the project theme of the life of the capitol as a cinema from its first opening until its closing in 1964.

I also ensured that the folio being worked on had a clear layout with included instructions. Hence, everyone on the team understands what needs to be done to remove any possibilities of delays or errors.

Sketch of how we would like to present items in the cabinet, again something visual to help with planning and final execution.
