unlecture.

A quote from yesterday’s unlecture which resonated with me;

“We often forget that technological inventions are made within a society that has particular values. How does this context get embedded into the technology and shape the way it is used?”

What this question made me think about, was the many criticised values which stem from technology. These attributes, such as vanity (seen through selfies, blogging and endless status updates) are not new values created by technology. Technology has merely provided a platform for these values to flourish. They were already inherent within our culture.
