“The 80/20 Rule”. Barabási, Albert-László. Linked: The New Science of Networks. Cambridge (MA): Perseus, 2002. Print.

In other words; ‘The 80/20 Rule’.
What sets Pareto’s law systems apart is a property that plays a key role in understanding complex networks aswell. Unlike a bell curve or histogram the power law demonstrates through a decreasing curve that there are many smaller entities co-existing with few larger events, allowing the rare large events to be shown rather than for instance in a bell curve, these larger events are simply forbidden. Barabasi says something that calls out to me, ‘millions of web page creators work together in some magic way to generate a complex web that defies the random universe’, what does this statement mean? Is it that the web is so complex, so full of smaller entities that it is impossible to figure out how so? Therefore, defying the universe? The reading continues to discuss the example of Hollywood actors and their connections to one another.
What i take away from this reading is how everyone and everything has a linkage. The web is a whole other platform of linkages that never end, expanding and providing 80% more links within each link.

Wow.
