How was the photo or video authored?
The photos taken by James Nachtwey are taken without organisation in a way they are candid and are meant to be a depiction of war in a honest truthful way with the intention to stop war.
James uses whatever technology he has access to such as film cameras to digital cameras. James has used Digital as the technology progressed. To classify his overall style would be to say he is a Documentary photographer.
Although this image is colour it is not true to form from James as his usual photos are black and white to show a more somber look on war.
It is important to note that if it was not for the accuracy of either old or new photography technologies these images could not be recored as accurately in the past with painters of war.
James and many photographers could not create images like Guatemala as the accuracy provides context and the speed of the devices in the photo are moving. Capturing the moment essentially.
“let it, in short. be the secretary and record-keeper of whomsoever needs absolute material accuracy for professional reasons.” (Derrick Price and Liz Wells 2015, pp. 15)
