In a “Cost of Living Crisis”, live entertainment venue Pride Of Our Footscray faces the threat of closing down every week. Will, Ai Lee and Sam at “Room With A View talk” to owner Mat O’ Keefe, and live sound engineer Shaemus Corcoran about the state of live music and the fight Pride endures to stay alive.

We started with our pitch, and decided to take on a subject that was a pressing matter in 2024. The closing of live music venues was interesting to learn, because a lot of people including ourselves were very unaware of the problem. So, learning about the issue through our interviews with Mat O’ Keefe (Venue Owner) and Shaemus Corcoran (Sound Engineer), was a very insightful and rewarding experience. It was then clear to move on to scripting, taking parts of the interview in a transcript and finding a story worth telling properly. The edit was the final stage, where we could make crucial decisions to evoke the best narrative and emotion for our listener. We hope you enjoy “PRIDE”.

After taking a tour of the RRR studios in East Brunswick the group was very excited to get going. After organising 3 separate interviews, we put together a run sheet of our favourite songs, scripted the several front and back end links, and recorded our show at the studio. It was a very valuable experience to learn how these shows at RRR operate and it was even more valuable to learn about three separate topics that all have a part in today’s world.
