The Augmenting Creativity Manifesto
- Patience is not just a virtue, but an absolute must when dealing with generative AI. Know that AI is not as fast and time efficient as you think it is.
- When prompting, try things you don’t think will work, and try the things you think will work, then try them together, and tweak them, and think outside the box, but also inside the box. (Prompting is seriously a trial and error process.)
- Remember that AI database is made up of everything you have seen before, it works well with genre, treat prompting like you’re the director and the AI is your crew.
– Ally.
- AI amplifies creativity: Adding AI to our creative processes raises the level and perspective of our work in previously unimaginable ways.
- Cocreation with AI is fun when it’s a collaborator, not a replacement. Working with AI has taught me that it is an ideal creative partner that complements rather than overshadows human originality.
- Patience with AI Leads to Powerful Results: Like any creative process, working with AI requires patience, but the rewards are surprising and transformative.
– Allen.
- AI is a helpful and convenient tool for learning and work; it should be used responsibly and not become a means for shortcuts.
- AI-generated content should adhere to ethical standards and not be used to mislead or spread harmful information, especially among audiences unfamiliar with AI.
- When using AI-generated work, respect copyright, create original content, and aim to enhance it further.
– Ethan.
- Think outside of the box. Generating with AI isn’t always as straight forward as you want it to be, you need to prompt with interpretation in mind.
- It’s a tool, not a replacement. Use AI to assist and enhance your work, don’t expect it to finish your project for you.
- Push your limits too. AI can enhance the scope of what you can create, so create with bigger goals in mind.
– Jackson.
- AI generations are like raw footage – mix them, edit them, cut them up!
- When in a creative rut, asking AI for advice can show you what you don’t want, fueling inspiration
- Using generative AI is a skill – practice, practice, PRACTICE!
– Kallista.
- AI is a lift for creativity, sending it to floor after floor of creative heights.
- AI is a great helper for creators and an important partner for future creators.
- Treat AI with patience and it will return many surprises.
– Kelsey.
- ChatGPT makes language learning fun and approachable—like when I practise German conversationally, free from the fear of mistakes. You can customise it to suit your learning style, whether for structured lessons or casual chats in your target language.
- Conversational AI tools like ChatGPT are like personal tech support, helping you learn and troubleshoot unfamiliar tools or get the most out of software—like when I ask ChatGPT for tips on doing cool things in Adobe Premiere Pro, such as creating dynamic transitions, mastering colour grading, or adding unique visual effects that elevate my projects.
- Generative AI tools like Runway and Leonardo.Ai allow me to explore my ideas visually and transform my concepts into unique narratives without being constrained by resources or traditional production methods.
– Leah.
- AI should never be weaponized to misinform or deceive individuals within society, especially for vulnerable individuals with limited awareness of these tools, as this destroys the trust these individuals have with technology and undermines informed decision-making.
- AI and AI generated works should be made to prioritize the lives and well-being of humans, and respect their autonomy, acting as a tool to assist humans rather than replace not only their work but their judgements and interactions.
- AI created works should operate with full transparency, and creators should be held accountable for the impact of their creations as well as the origins and purpose of all relevant content.
– Seyyid.
- Let go and let ‘Chat’. ChatGPT is not a person, but it is the best personal assistant.
- The best way to get what you want in a genAI program is to keep on prompting until the final result is close to perfect.
- Maintain boundaries with GenAI – the perfection behind the images and words is an illusion, so don’t let it dull your creativity.
– Somaya.
- AI serves as a guide, but it is up to us to create new and different creative paths. AI is the compass, not the map. Understanding that human curiosity, not machine projections, drives true investigation is essential to sustainable use.
- Efficiency is not the goal of creation: While AI’s speed is unquestionably alluring, creativity lives on depth, nuance, and enquiry. AI shouldn’t combine human expression; rather, it should enhance it.
- Don’t let algorithms determine our creative tendencies; instead, create with AI, not for AI. Using tools to push boundaries rather than conforming to a data-driven model is the essence of sustainable AI.
– Sophie.
- Think of AI as another creative partner added onto to a project where what once was an individual work, therefore becomes some sort of virtual collaboration with an entity.
- Try the approach of talking to AI as if explaining something simple to a toddler step by step as this could generate a more refined and complex result in the output.
- Work with what has been already generated by AI to spark further creative ideas. For an example, if AI generates a script for a media production, explore its capacity further by prompting the tool to add and change things multiple times until it creates a desired output.
