The sound future created in our work, ‘Last Call For Venice’, is built upon the foundation of the current situation of rising sea levels, specifically in Venice. It’s expected that Venice in 2100 will be fully submerged under water. In our imagined future of this event, one Italian restaurant is left on the highest point, where the last few people in Venice come to dine, a last bastion of humanity, compared to the new world of AI and nature combined. We imagined both worlds, a dichotomy and reflection of each other, and that it what is heard in the piece.
It is a 10 minute long experimental sound work, that many hours of hard work, tireless nights and difficult communication helped to bring to life. As
much as the process may have been difficult, it was able to give us lessons on not only the creation and experimentation of a new audio platform, but to truly explore a simple yet brilliant idea that kept us going. After all, is art really art if you don’t have to suffer for it?
Though the project was difficult, laborious and morale-breaking at times, we are exceptionally proud of what we’ve created and for you to hear the final result. Take this sound future from us, and make of it what you will.
All we hope for, is that you enjoy it.
