‘Save Public Homes’ – (Simon, Jack, Kyla)

In Port Melbourne on Saturday May 27th, people showed up to fight for a public housing estate that is currently slated to be demolished and sold. In order to better understand the ongoing rental crisis in Melbourne, we spoke to people at the rally to save Barak Beacon about why they believe it is crucial to protect these kinds of public housing estates.

Working on this project allowed us to focus our story telling and audio production ability in order to produce a piece of audio journalism that would be suitable for broadcast on a station like RRR.

‘Room With a View – May 2, 2023’ – (Simon, Jack)

We had the opportunity to create a 1-hour piece of programming that was broadcast on Triple R. We featured a combination of local music and interviews throughout the course of our show. These interviews included an expert on technology and sociology, the head of an ongoing class action suit against Uber, and the owners of Last Chance Rock and Roll Bar—who launched a massive campaign to purchase a beloved live music venue in Melbourne.

This project allowed us to develop radio-ready skills in a real-life context.
