Radio Show – Room With A View
Room with a view is a weekly radio show hosted by RMIT media students every Tuesday morning on 3RRR. On Tuesday the 17th of May host Larise and Jordan along with producer Harry took the wheel. Jordan and Larise are joined by multiple inspirational and entertaining guests including comedian Jez Watts, calling in from the Sydney Comedy Festival, young journalist and the founder of 6News Leo Puglisi and music and culture collective On3’s founder Kish Chand. In addition to these interviews, this episode of Room With A View is complemented with a variety of music from local Melbourne artists.
The three of us thoroughly enjoyed the process of creating our radio show and learnt a variety of skills about pitching ideas, finding interviewees, panelling and structuring a show in a way that flows and keeps a radio audience engaged.

Tactile Citizen – Radio Feature
In the second half of the semester, our team produced a radio feature titled ‘Tactile Citizen’. Lucy lives with Oculocutaneous Albinism in addition to being legally blind. Being legally blind creates a number of challenges when trying to commute on public transport and navigating around the Melbourne CBD. When travelling Lucy employs the use of multiple mobility aids, such as a white cane and tactiles installed on footpaths, which are often unintentionally obstructed. Lucy wants to educate the general public about the vision-impaired community, their challenges and what can be done to assist and make the city more accessible for all.
We enjoyed the challenge of creating this radio feature and learnt a lot about the process of storytelling through an audio medium and how different types of audio complement different stories differently, (eg, music, sfx, narration, vox pops, etc). How to successfully pitch an idea by identifying key interesting aspects of a story and why it is impactful to a listener and the importance of having contingency plans, for when talent becomes unavailable.
