The Stateless

Citizenship is normally thought of as an inalienable right to many. However, there are people like Ali who go along living deprived of such rights. Ever since he was born in 1994, life has been an ongoing struggle that grows more difficult each passing day. Ali is not alone in this, there are many around the globe that face similar hardships; in Kuwait, where Ali was born, there is more than 100,000 that goes through the misery of being unrecognized. Being without citizenship in the 21st century means that one would have to go on living with no right of inheritance and property, no access to modern healthcare and education, and no right to safety and security. A decent, comfortable, and fulfilling life is but a shadow, an unattainable dream to many like Ali. The stateless is a 5-minute documentary that highlights the people that the system chose to forget.
