Monster

A film by Alex, Travis and Shaun.

Monster is a short film about the dangers of being unvaccinated in a world where deadly monsters exist. The film’s protagonist, Danny, is a regular guy who is just going about his normal morning routine when the monster attack happens. We learn that he and his friend Frank are both still waiting to receive their ‘monster vaccinations’ and are therefore vulnerable to the deadly beast.

The film blends stop motion animation with intimate storytelling to examine a serious topic in a tongue-in-cheek manner. The film follows many of the conventions of the big monster horror genre and is strongly inspired by the big monster films of the 1950s.

Making this film was a rewarding experience for all involved as we were able to develop the skills we have been learning throughout our first year of university and apply them to a practical project. From the rigorous pre-production phase to the final product, we were able to practice many new skills that will be essential for our future media careers.
