Directed and Edited by Holly Colvin

An experimental film centred around one military man’s struggles from the war-field encompassing stories of loss, heartbreak and life post-deployment.

Director’s Statement:

I wanted to create a film that explores the truthful reality of the war-field and how this experience takes effect. The film can be quite dark and morbid however the topic itself is morbid and as tough as it is for an audience to hear, it’s a topic worth exploring. I wanted to dive deep and tell the stories that haven’t been told or heard before, bringing to the audience a certain awareness of the saddening reality of life deployment and post-deployment for those involved. I decided to be poetic, contemplative, and experimental in my approach considering most war films are talking-head documentaries featuring B-roll footage and have therefore become generic. Hence, I have utilised metaphoric visuals and sounds to convey deeper meaning to the film, investigating the themes of life and loss. It was both a pleasure and a challenge to interview my loving partner Joshua Pineda on this personal journey and this film is the result.
