blue monday

I would like to acknowledge the land of the Boon Wurrung people in which this documentary was created on. I acknowledge them as the original custodians of this land that I am able to create on.

I would like to pay my respects to their elders, past, present and future.

Blue Monday was filmed, edited and uploaded by Isabella Paturzo-Polson.

Synopsis:

Blue Monday captures the repetitive nature that occurs when faced with the challenge of being alone. The lack of interaction leads to the destruction of the mind and essentially the uncontrollable emotions faced during the vulnerable times of loneliness.

The title of ‘Blue Monday’ emerges from the voice over that appears in the documentary in which my emotional decline occurs on a Monday.

What I got out of it?

This assignment was rather challenge. It challenged my creativity and encouraged me to research different ways in which documentary can be shared. The niche idea I had in my head that documentaries needed to be educational and proper was wiped when I began experimenting with different techniques such at materiality and archival footage. With the help of feedback, I was able to overcome my uncertainty with my film and continue to let it grow into something I can be proud of. One of the most inspiring things that has stuck with me throughout this studio is the notion of “stealing like an artist”. Using other people whether it be professionals or my classmates, I am able to obtain inspiration from them for my own films.
