SACRED PLACE

The Centre

What are the elements that define a space? In our exploration and examination of the shopping center, we identified movement as the central quality that defined the space. Through further discussion and deconstruction of this quality, we identified that the shopping center could be divided into two distinct identities: one identity regarding passive movement and another identity regarding active movement. How is it that people navigate through this space? What role does the layout and design of the space have in guiding people’s movement? How does a person’s movement influence their perception of a space? These are some of the questions that we hoped to investigate through our assignment.
