Updated teaching schedule: Weeks 7-12

I’ve put together an updated class schedule for you all to peruse – after week 7 it’s pretty open (deliberately), but there will be some more definite things that will come up as the weeks unfold.

Also I’ve assigned each group a WIP presentation week – keep in mind that this is just a presentation about where your group is at; you will all be at different stages so really it doesn’t matter when you do it.  That said, if you can see any glaring issues with the day you’ve been allocated, please let me know.

Monday Week 6

In this session we’ll get each production group to present a table read of their script, so have a discussion within your group about how you want to approach this before the class.  Some of you were doing this already, so you should be ready to go.

After that, we’ll have a quick intro to lighting.  To prepare, take a look at this Lighting Prezi created be Andrea Rassell (for the Masters Program).  We won’t be using C-Stands, but all of the basic principals will apply for us.

Monday Week 5 – Guest Lecture

Just a reminder that this coming Monday we have Evan Munro-Smith, Director of the excellent ABC iView series ‘Sammy J’s Playground Politics’, coming in to give a guest lecture.
Evan will cover a lot of topics that are directly relevant to you and your group right now, so please be sure to arrive on time (in fact, 5 minutes early) to class so that we can make the most of the session.  This is a fantastic opportunity to get insight from someone who is established in the industry, and ask any questions to help with your own projects in this studio.
Also, be sure to watch some episodes of Sammy J’s Playground Politics before then!
Looking forward to seeing you all on Monday, ready for 2:30PM.

Media – Readings for Assessment Task 2

I’ve seen some good work come through for the first assessment task, well done to those who have completed it (and to those who haven’t, make sure that you do!)

For the next task, I’ll be expecting you to ramp up the research side, particularly in the ‘contextual’ analysis and your reflection.  This is how you can demonstrate engagement with the form and content at a deeper level.
