This is an article wriiten by TED staff to show people how to cut a speech or interview video. Ten tips are offered and discussed with example videos made by TED program. Actually, this is not a source about film editing techniques. However, I find it is interesting when I compare the techniques they use here with those we often use in film and TV. It is somehow quite similar, isn’t it? In the videos here, they use cut-on action and cut-on words to edit speech, which we also use in film editing. But there are also slight differences. Here they emphsize the countinuty and clear meanings rather than the montage which coulde provoke different thoughts of audiences. Anyway, when we study editing, we shall first make our purpose clear: which kind of effects we want to achieve and which we don’t and what we expect to see from audiences?
