The book states the rule of the editing and illustrates some  specific edit elements,such as eyelines, vary the cuts, motivated cutting and physical continuity.

Of course these are all theory.  It is worth to talk that  the rules of editing,  divide into some steps ：

Match Action， cut on action， let the camera settle before cutting and create visual bridges. These all helps for practical detailed explanation.

Moreover, the book in chapter 6.7.8 introduces 3 genre editing styles which really help with my following editing brief.
