Kracauer, s. Theory of Film: The Redemption of Physical Reality. New York: Oxford University Press, 1965. Print. (Kracauer 176–177)

This text offers knowledge on a broad range of film related theories and practical applications to film. It touches on everything such as dialogue sound, actors in film, matters on content and composition. Kracauer also goes into the history of film from the very beginning with the Lumiere Brothers, up until the time the book was published (1965), mentioning film movements and revelations such as German expressionist film, American film comedy, Swedish superimpositions and dreams and Russian originated montage methods. While this book is helpful, it is broad and doesn’t go into too much detail, like a thorough beginner’s handbook for film.
