Schrader discusses the editing theory of Eisenstein and Kuleshov. Editing might be able work through assimilation, for instance, when people see a series of images, even if there is no perception can be found, the brain still will work hard to perceive it. Kuleshov discovered through editing, a filmmaker could control what the types of images that the viewer faced, and control how they received. And the editing is capable for arousing emotions and creating ideas. Eisenstein’s theories were based on the logical combination of images. He states the Hegelian dialectic, for instance, A + B cpntrasted and C is created. Also, A + B + C coexist and create a D. Their montage idea shows that how the mind control images, and how it assimilates them and makes sense of them.
