It is used all over Hollywood. ‘The cuts are intended to be unobtrusive for special dramatic shots’. The continuity techniques are mentioned in the article are matching screen direction, position and temporal relations from shot to shot, motivated cuts, the 180 degree rule, shot and reverse shot, eye-line match and sound bridging. In addition, 3 guidelines about editing are discussed. The first one is cut when it is motivated. The second one, cut on subject movement whenever possible. Audience tends to not notice the cuts because they are catching up with the actions. The third one, close-ups would be a good choice to avoid the missing in video images when it comes to television system. However close-up doesn’t work too much on light comedy.
