  1. From Eisenstein’s point of view, art is born with conflicts. The conflicts in art create the dynamic tension. New ideas usually are born through the dynamic tension. There are multiple ideas in true art. They exist on the opposition of each other. The clash of these ideas makes the work valuable. The conflicts between two ideas create a third idea. This concept also is suitable for film theory. Montage is the dynamic form contains two or more independent shots. These shots are juxtaposed to create a new idea, effect or impression on audience. The new idea or feeling is born because of the conflicts. ‘Viewers would be able to bridge seemingly disparate shots with logic of their own creation’.

This article investigates the montage theory of new idea is born from conflicts. It is Eisenstein’s original theory on Montage. It also contains the example analysis. The analysis from shot to shot is very specific and detailed.

Eisenstein is again mentioned in another article. He is a very important theorist and filmmaker in montage. So I will focus on his work and paper more in order to know more about montage. Also the examples make me have a further understanding on montage.
