  1. Isenhour limits his discussion around the importance of context and order in editing to the juxtaposition of two silent film shots joined by a cut. With this limit he is able to refer to the initial work of Pudovkin and Kuleshov whilst also looking at more contemporary studies that focus upon the same relationship. Much of the focus of the piece is looking at the possibility at evoking a varied emotional response from the same shots presented in a different order. From analysis of the existing experimentation and theoretical framework Isenhour concludes that the degree to which the meanings change when two shots are juxtaposed depends on intensity of the original shot’s meaning. The meaning of two juxtaposed shots will not change drastically in two cases: when one shot is more intense in meaning and if the two shots are effectively disassociated.
