Film Festival Research

This is the research I did in Film project 1. I think is still work for the film project 2. So I just search a little bit information about the suspense film.

Research film festivals and entry requirements. Set up accounts on the following websites: filmfreeway.com, withoutabox.com, and filmfestivallife.com

FilmFreeway: (A synthetical website) /Withoutabox/ FFlife

After created an account and logged in, I find an introduction on how to make the website work. Firstly, we are supposed to discover various film festivals. There are a large number of film festivals. Each of them is focusing on specific areas. Thus, we should figure out their difference and find out the most suitable one for us. Secondly, we just need to upload our projects, pick our favorite film festivals and then submit. Finally, we just need to wait for them to review our work and notify us if we are selected.

Different Film Festivals:

Atlanta Film Festival
- There are five main categories awards of ALTFF, such as Best Narrative Feature, Best Documentary Feature, Best Narrative short, Best Documentary Short and Best Animated Short.
- In addition, the winner of the Narrative Short, Documentary Short, and Animated Short prizes all qualify for the following year’s Academy Awards.
Brooklyn Film Festival
- Comparing with ALTFF, it adds some awards for film production roles, such as screenwriting, cinematography, editing, acting and etc.
Athens International Film and Video Festival
- Category: Experimental, Short Narrative, Feature Narrative, Animation, Short Documentary, and Feature Documentary

There are also some small-scale film festivals for some specific type of film, such as horror film.

Our film is a suspense film at this time. Thus, I just type the suspense film in these film festival website. Then a few festivals show up.
