Exhibition Reflection

We had our Film Light exhibition last week and I think it is a great opportunity to see our work exhibited on a big screen in a theatre room like that. The screening enables me to discover more details which I would not notice clearly during the production process. I hope the screening was able to show the audience about what we tried to achieve in the film, to evoke our theme of “horror/thriller” through the lighting, cooperating with the sound equipment in the theatre room to give the audience a cinema experience.

I definitely want to develop the story and add more scene if I am going to keep working on this piece and it is going to be screened in a festival. I want to add one more actor/actress in this film to make the story richer. Also, I am not satisfied with the quality of the scene shot in the second half part of the film. The screen is very big which I noticed graininess in the second part of the story. I think I will cut that part and reshoot it in the place where we planned to shoot but were not able to get into.

I am interested in the group which they work on silhouette experiments. I am curious about the lighting they produced as they are very dramatic and I like the scene with pink background. I would suggest they could plan the story to be funnier. I think overall it is a great experiment on lighting. Another group I like they show the scene of a man being interrogated in a room. I keep wondering the story before and after that clip. I would suggest they develop more scenes in the film. I like the second scene they shoot in a rainy day in a apartment. The lighting was similar with the one they showed in their first investigative video. They applied their idea of that lighting well in this film.

The experience of being part of an audience in this exhibition inspires me a lot. I start to pay more attention to the details and start to watch our works in a different perspective. I try not to think about what we were going to achieve in the production instead to see the film in an audience’s perspective. I find myself become more picky. I start to notice the aspects which it can be improved and aspects that are done well in every piece of work. This brings inspiration to my future media production. Our works are not perfect, but it doesn’t matter. Through this exhibition, I am able to absorb the inadequacies and improve my work, this is a beneficial experience to improve my media production skills and for my future study. Overall, I really enjoy what I did in this semester with Robin and my friends! Thank you all for the wonderful time.
