Again it seems, I start my day, checking all my various social media for news and notifications. You’d think I would’ve done something different, now that I am more self aware than ever since I’m writing these blogs about it daily this week. But alas, no. Though I do, now that I’m looking at it and tracking it, give myself a hard time as to ‘why’ I use social media so frequently, there are so many great uses for it. I’ve talked a lot this week about using online media to get information and content that interests me. But by using various social media like YouTube and twitter to connect to each other, allows for not just the interconnectivity of the creator and consumer, but also to an online community that naturally ferments because of it. I have people in the online spectrum that after I spent today watching youTube videos and reading articles that I have never met in person, but I talk to about it online with. Share ideas with them over direct messages and twitter threads, to hear their thoughts and continue to build my own. It is important not just to be the consumer but also someone who is authoring, to put your own ideas out there to get feedback for. I got to read another one of Colin’s ‘News Blasts’, that lead me to relevant political articles, that I commented on, which lead to some very pertinent discussion with others who were doing the same thing as me. I got to hear some differing opinions on things and share some thoughts and ideas. This is by far the best thing I find when using online media, and today I got to experience that a little more than the rest of the week.
