Putting together the short scene was quite challenging due to it being done soul by me. As I was away during class, I decided I would film, edit and act in the scene myself. I thought the shots worked well, with two simple shots on each characters. Though an establishing shot would’ve helped in the beginning, however having only myself in the scene meant it would take a lot of time to out together a shot like that. Both shots established the two characters in the same space and in dialogue. It did this simply with the two shot scene; not over complicating the job, while also having the shots mirror one another. Another strength I feel was the pacing in the edit. The comedic timing came from this, since it could not come naturally in a two person scene, since it was myself talking to no and and vice versa. Therefore the editing became extremely important to making it all believable and fit like an organic conversation. In some ways however, the fact that it was not two actors bouncing off of each other in dialogue made the scene a little strange at points. It took planning to make sure the reactions from both characters were emotionally suitable for the way in which the other character spoke with them. On occasion it did not work well, especially nearing the end. All in all, I believe the main thing I would change if I was to attempt this shoot again would be to simply do it with a crew of people. Even though the experience is extremely beneficially to be able to self create a short scene with only myself.
