Self-Portrait (Lo-Fi)

MY NAME IS PALSTRA.
I find that luck is the marriage of opportunity and preparation.
I struggle to find the time for people that don’t inspire me.
I draw energy from myself.
I run late. A train sounds.

I record.
But most importantly;
MY NAME BACKWARDS IS ARTSLAP.

Fragments of me.

I have attempted to replicate the way I see myself and the world via the lens of an outsider. As ‘Introspect’ suggests, I tend to over-think things and distort my own perspective of myself, masking what’s totally reasonable to perceive with bizarre alternatives. ‘Red’ simply highlights the ginge tinge; an undeniable and crucial part of my identity. The moth on my bedroom window in ‘Space’ is somewhat representative of how I feel in there – overwhelmed, a bit dirty, but free to have a little hover around and erratically alternate between various bright and shiny things. The face I’m masking my own with in ‘Past’ is a character concoction of my five-year-old mind, Lil’ Bullet; who I was so totally proud of and obsessed with for a number of years that I forced him into my identity, so naturally I included that to acknowledge my formative creative years. These early years also saw my fascination with the eerie alternate reality that exists in the shadows we cast, which instigated many curious strolls to study the way we as humans interacted with our shadow counterparts – a fascination I attempted to replicate in ‘Shadow’. I have always used music as a vehicle for immersion and self-discovery, so I thought that ‘Vinyl’ would be a clear representation of how I receive and produce music.
