Chinatown Street View

This is a short photo video of Chinatown Street View by Yugeng Su. Generally, photography is a way to record moments and preserve our memories as well as it can be almost unlimited by time and space. Besides, photography and literature share the importance of the paratext in amplifying the effects of narrative. In this photo video, I used a series of street view photos (edited with warm colours) of Chinatown and some photos of objects with Chinese elements to highlight the theme of this video and my feeling of missing my hometown. In addition, narrative, poetic or descriptive texts at the bottom of each photograph create a storytelling atmosphere for the audience. The comfortable, slow and quiet background music can give people a relaxed state to enjoy these beautiful photos and to associate with the stories behind them. Based on this photo video, I have learned about the role photography plays in narration, and when I went to Chinatown to shoot in person, the images and stories about this place also came to my mind. Please remember: photography has unlimited possibilities.
