Calming rapids

With the Yarra river so close to my house I have found that it has become a source of solace for me. In the mornings I run along it and many afternoons I return to it in order to find myself truely alone with my thoughts. I find the river makes it easy to think as problems detangle themselves from one another. The world is not such a looming presence there and the area is drenched in a sense of calm and tranquility. As a person who is neither calm nor tranquil in any aspect of her life, immersing myself in an environment so heavily bound to those feelings makes it something of a sanctuary for me.
