Remixes are the repurposing of existing media, and creating something new or different with it. The remix culture has found popularity amongst disco and hip hop groups. We can even consider remixes as not as straight forward as we on though, and serves as a form of entertainment due to the differences found between the original and the remix, and thus draws a divide between the original producer of the media and the remix creator, creating issues and debates surrounding the standard commercial practice.

Craig Owens argues that deconstruction occurs in post modernism, and is always made present as a “preoccupation with reading.” (10) In this case, remix depends on the existence of the pre-existing text or cultural code.
