Networked Media Unlecture 5

I have been dragging myself to Unlecture. I keep asking myself, is it me or I simply don’t this symposium. I guess it is good to try next things in this fast forward generation, however it feels like I’m in a large scale tutorial class. Maybe that is why, most of my classmates aren’t interested in attending tutorials. Though somehow we are “forced” to attend since it carries our participation marks.

The point behind this Unlecture is to have a two way conversation with the tutors and students. However, it is already so challenging to make students speak in class. Let alone is such a big lecture hall. People tend to be nervous or shy to state their opinion, scared that it is a wrong answer or being judged. I feel that maybe this “Unlecture” can be modified to become more interesting and engaging so that there won’t be an overlap in educating us.

“Social media has changed the playing field a bit, and PR is now concerned with more than just media and may be more involved in consumer relationship building”. (Noricks 2011)

When you think about Fashion, it is mainly all about visuals and descriptions. Twitter has fit in perfectly for the industry. You could be tweeting from the front row of a fashion show, or you could tweet a photo of a Celine bag you just saw at an exclusive preview.

“An everyday Fashionista could feel like they were front row at any Fashion Week simply by logging into Twitter or Instagram.”

Twitter and Instagram has been the trendsetter of instant buzzing. Letting consumers play the role as fashion designer and models; snapping pictures of them dressed up in their favourite brand and posting it online. It also provides fashion brands to find out what consumers wants and needs before anything hits the stores.

For all Fashionistas out there, don’t look at social media sites as a place to sell but use it to create a big HOOHAA! Trust me it will definitely result a good business.

So what are you waiting for? Just take out your phone and start snapping!

Unlecture 4

Adrain mentioned something inspiring in this week’s lecture. He pointed out that we were learning how to make money through the usage of network. I was intrigued by the thought of it. The new platform where we get to share our ideas and hopefully I get to earn some extra bucks.

Who would have thought that uploading your youtube video might get you popular or earn some quick bucks.

There are many Youtube talents out there. The power of social proved its point by helping record companies notice unknown artist that are seeking fame via Youtube. It actually quite simple! All it takes is one or two strangers to share a video, and it can spread like an “epidemics.” Some examples of the popular artists like Justin Bieber and Gangnam Psy  have gained popularity through this youtube platform.

Design Fiction

Since I was a Science and Mathematics were never my thing. Let alone science fictions and the syfy movies. However, I must acknowledge that the technology has advanced so much that I thought it would be worth sharing.

10 years ago, who would have knew that they could sweep the world at the tip of their fingers. With just one click, they might be able to create something big and new. The current technology has empowered people with knowledge and resources.

Just few weeks ago, I chanced upon this cool creation called the nap pod. Ever wished of having a bed to rest at the office? Google has gotten these nap pod for their employees at work to make sure of this to catch a power nap.
