This semester I was assigned to The Small Things studio. After 3 weeks study, I consider The Small Things Studio is about to show us how to use professional equipment, editing shoot scenes as well as tell us how to find a better angle or place to shoot a scene. During these 3 weeks, I learned how to set up tripods, how to adjust the expose, focus white balance and also shooting angels. In this semester, I am looking forward to editing my own video or a short film by myself at the end of this study. Cause I have always dreamed about being a film editor, so I am really excited about learning editing videos at this media studio, such as when I need to stop and insert a new one, when I can put a sound effect or soundtrack. I am looking forward to studying those skills or a sense of editing. I also suspect that I can see more creative or the latest ways of editing a video. Cause all I can use about editing right now is just Adobe Premier besides I also know the Final cut, Corel Ultimate, and Cyber Link, I wish I could also get to know a little bit about those in this studio. But it also fine to just let me get to use Premier more proficient after this semester. While I was practice shooting scenes, it is important to corporate group members either, so I wish I could do better on working with others after I finish studying this media studio, that would also very helpful in my future study or work.
The first video that I took was about I filled the beanbag at my living room. I took two shots, one is close shot which focuses on my hands and the beanbag and another one is a medium close shot. After that, I put those two shots together to show how I filled the beanbag from far to close. Although this is a boring and short video I still have to look for the angle that can show my whole body so that the audience can see what am I doing. Also, the lighting of the shot is also important to look at. That is all I learned from this video work.

The second video took during the Small Things class. We just took the shot of each other and I filmed Julia about playing his phone. Because Paul just asks for a 20-sec video. So, I took a shot of Julia walking in, sit and get the phone out and have look at it. This is the first video that I filmed by using with the professional video camera. It was a little bit hard to find the exact distance with the character and set up a nice good angle for shooting. I was also confused with which angle should I use with this scene. It was a little confused when I am the person who controls the angel, lights, and theme to shoot.

Personally speaking, in terms of the aims of the course, having a better command of Adobe Premiere is definitely of vital significance. In my spare time, I form a habit of surfing the Internet. Whenever I encounter some fantastic and high-quality videos edited by Adobe Premiere on YouTube, especially some extremely creative and unconventional ones, I cannot help marveling at this magic power of video editing software and wondering how to edict videos wonderfully. There are some videos whose contents are quite normal and even a little boring, but owing to the existence of some excellent video post-production, new life is infused into these originally unpopular things. Sometimes, when I find some unsatisfactory work, I also reflect on and question from my own perspective, which may always be non-professional and naive. In short, thanks to the wide existence of extraordinary and unsatisfactory videos on the Internet in such an information era, I get constant inspiration and always aspire to utilize relevant software to bring my own ideas to life.
Suffice to say that there is a great deal of criticism about reality TV. However, the criticism is actually accompanied by another phenomenon that the significant role of video post-production is inevitably becoming more and more obvious, with the increasing emergence and widespread reality TV nowadays. In some situation, video post-production may even exhibit a decisive effect on the success of reality TV. In my opinion, Keeping Up With the Kardashians is a typical example, which video post-production has contributed to the popularity of the show. The popularity of this reality TV makes me notice that video post-production does play an absolutely important role in the rhythm of narration, the used of suspense and mutual conflict, and therefore this reality TV is adorned with highlights. To some extent, apart from the overwhelming and seemingly ubiquitous news about the Kardashians which makes the general public hear something about them more or less and contributes to the popularity to the reality TV, the excellent use of video post-production is definitely necessary when it comes to the widespread of this reality TV. Reasonable use of video post-production can add viewing effect to reality TV and make it more attractive and popular. Besides, when it comes to a large number of Hollywood blockbusters, such as Spider-Man and Shrek, the function of video post-production is also beyond doubt.
Additionally, from a technical perspective, video post-production is connected with a great deal of professional knowledge. For occasional photographers like elders who want to take a short video of the family reunion or some important festival, having a grasp of appropriate exposure is a relatively challenging task for them. In this situation, video-editing can be quite useful in handling issues concerning overexposure and underexposure. At the same time, appropriate White Balance and Focal Length are also indispensable for every single satisfactory result. Undoubtedly, there are some professional notions which require my constant learning.
I always develop new ideas and insights and I deeply desire to apply them to my learning process step by step. It may be difficult but definitely meaningful.
