Location scouting

Originally my story was to take place in a cinema. However, to actually gain access to a cinema to film in may not be a realistic hope. So, as I see it, I have two options: use movie magic to make somewhere look like a cinema, or change settings. I feel like the latter may be the way to go, as I’m sure it will be simpler, and I don’t think losing the cinema setting would really be such a big sacrifice. So where else could a story about the confusion of which bin to put a glass bottle in then? I suppose anywhere with both a waste bin and a recycling bin.

One location that comes to mind is the front yard of my house, where my bins are kept – one for waste, the other recycling. A clear positive of this location would be the ease of getting there, as well as a lack of people or other obstacles in the way.

There would normally be two bins, but not today for some reason

Being as simple as it is, I don’t feel this change of setting will have too much of an impact on the story. One thing that might occur is a shift from the paranoia based on those directly behind the protagonist (in the cinema setting) to what now could be a paranoia based on people watching them from their house windows. This would heighten the silliness of the story, which sounds like a good thing to me. The story could now become more thriller-like, similar to Rear Window or something, clearly with comedic undertones (or probably overtones).

(While I do believe this setting could really complement my story, I kind of don’t want to totally abandon the idea of a cinema setting, but I might save that for another blog post.)
