WK 5 LECTORIAL: Intro to PB#3

With the recent exit of PB#2, enters PB#3. The later being the focus of week five’s lectorial.
Instead of the subject being ourself like the past project briefs, this one sees the focus of being somebody we know, a family member, friend or anyone of interesting traits. Another twist to the project is that it must include both original recorded material, and found footage from an archival site. At first I was super perplexed as to how I would manage to pull this requirement off, but soon after discussion between the room and the showing of some example videos I started to gain some confidence and brainstorm a few ideas for how I could approach the given task. I can safely say that I had more confidence with the project at the end of the session than at the beginning, so that’s a plus in my books.

After the reviewing of PB#3, we moved onto talking about how we should be read and then review or interpret a piece of academic writing (inc. articles, essays, journals and textbooks). Here are some of the handy tips we received on the matter:
– HIGHLIGHT (loves a good highlighting session), and annotate all relevant sections
– BREAK IT UP, by reading key sections firsts before reading it from start to finish
– SKIM, a surprisingly productive method when reading lengthy/detailed pieces
