Blog Stalk Week 8

So this week I’m stalking Ella’s blog who’s stalking Lauren’s blog.
Check out the post here.

So I’m not going to lie to you make-believe-people-who-don’t-read-my-blog, but I did check out this blog because of it’s amazing cover shot (you go ella, and I am also obsessed with rain shots).
Anyway, the girls were talking about programs and technology that may become obsolete or non existent in the future, leaving current files and programs un-viewable and un-workable, however, older files and media still may be able to be viewed.
I do remember discussing this in an IM class…
I’m with Ella on this one – I find it hard to believe that one day the technology and files we use and create might not be able to function… but then, I guess that’s what people thought of the cameras back in the day.. and before anyone gets offended, I’m talking about the days of when I was a kid… our house camera wasn’t digital – you went to the chemist and got the shots printed… none of this upload to you computer, photo-shop the shit out of it then DP it on Facebook. Nope, you were being put on the wall, pimples and all.

I know things are developing – they have too – yet, I do find it hard to believe adobe programs will one day become the second option, and then even the third and fourth, until one day a kid asks me what the hell photoshop is.. I might cry.
But then why should I be surprised? These changes are happening now, and have been happening all throughout my lifetime. Even in my university career, we’ve gone from being told to learn Final Cut, to now being told to use Premier (Thankgod, adobe beats FC anyway.. sorry guys).
And VHS players … CD’S… these are the obvious ones, but it’s happening in all parts of our lives. One day our kids are going to look up to our generation and ask what the hell that thing is, when in actual fact they’re pointing to an iPhone 3.
The future is happening, and it’s either keep up or be left behind.
