In this course I would like to refine my skills in making fiction and non-fiction films. I want to have a further understanding of the traditional method of approaching fiction and non-fiction films. Basically, laying down the basic rules of making fiction and non-fiction films. I would then like to learn how fiction and non-fiction techniques could influence each other in creating a film. As stated under “Brief” section about drama documentary and documentary drama how one uses drama approached and turns out to be a documentary film, vice versa.
I hope to learn and practice working with the camera so that I can get familiar with it. I would love to try working with the camera in different conditions for example different times of the day or environment so that I will be able to know the kind of settings needed to adjust. I would like to try and experiment creative shots so that it will be visually interesting. Besides, working on the camera which is part of production I would like touch on pre and post production. I hope to touch on each process so that I will be able to know which my stronger area is.
My goals for this course is that by the end of this semester I will be able to fully understand fiction and non-fiction films and able to think creatively when approaching to any type of film. I hope that working closely with the camera, it will help me to acquire the skills I mentioned above. I hope in the future when there are projects, I am ready to instil my skills and knowledge readily. I hope that I will be able to critically analyse works during lessons and provide insightful reflections. Overall, I want to learn new things from exploring traditional films and experience the technical part of production.
