Group assignments can be really good or really difficult. My group is a group of 2, which is great because it is easier to coordinate…right? WRONG! We have been very unlucky as one week I was sick and the next week she was sick so for the first two weeks we were having group meeting online and via Facebook and Skype.
In this workshop I discussed with the tutor the very few problems we were facing.
For our film we have decided to take a more abstract approach and challenge ourselves to creatively explore the institution of television. In doing so we were worried that by taking this approach we wouldn’t be able to fully present our thorough understanding of the topic and explore and portray the main messages to the audience.
This is the feedback we were given to prevent this issue from occurring…
Create a word document explaining of the film that references the academic papers that express the knowledge we have as well as what we are trying to portray. This should not be a separate artefact, but rather a supporting document of our main artefact.
This document should begin with a paragraph of information about institutions as a whole and then narrow into how television as an institution fits into this idea of institutions. The body of it should link into the certain aspects of the film that explore the idea of institution in our film.
The first section of our film ‘Birth’ presents what we want well but in our 2nd part ‘stabilisation’ or broadcast era we need to discuss or explore the production part of television a little more. This could be done through adding in a little more found footage.
In the 3rd part ‘mobility’ or post broadcast era we need to explore how television has now gone beyond mobility through the internet (e.g. web series- broad city)
This feedback was the thing we needed to push ourselves and now power through the rest of it all!
