Lectorial #6

This week we had another guest speaker, Paul Ritchard.

He spoke to us about the more specific details that we had to take note of when interviewing talents or even shooting with a crew. There was mention about using a performance release form and even a location release form and also just generally how to work around obstacles you will definitely face during the shooting process.

One thing that i really enjoyed from this lectorial was when Paul mentioned a little bit about Serendipity. He told us a little story about the Clown on the Train and how the crew wanted to shoot on a moving train. But the process of getting permission as well as the logistics that went a long with that started to get very problematic and eventually, they filmed in a train musuem. A little hitch that came with that prospect was, they could only shoot at night since that was when the train musuem was closed and available for use. In post production, these little minor problems proved to be useful as the effect of that on the film was on fleek. It gave the film the eerie feel that it needed, so instead of being a problem, it became a blessing – serendipity.

We then later watched a documentary for the rest of the lectorial about Google and it’s privacy policy. I wasn’t really paying attention much at that time to be honest but i did get some inspiration for my Project Brief 3- which i still haven’t given much thought to it.
