Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey

HAHAHA BECAUSE THE NAME RIGHT?!?!?! RIGHT?!?!?!

I found todays lecture really hard to get my head around as I’m not really a gamer (bar zelda and if things aren’t spoken in zelda terms then I can’t keep up) and really struggled keeping up with the beginning. However, I did jot down some notes and here they are!

can video games be considered hypertext narratives?

Elliot – yes and no.
Adrian – no
– No There is a fundamental difference in that hypertext provides different kinds of links
– Different sets of contact
– Games might have stories but there doesn’t need to be a story to be a game
– You don’t win stories, you can’t win a story.
– hypertext provides different links than video games do (linking out to different content vs. linking into content within a ‘world’)

how can you actually write a hypertext narrative?

– nodes make sense by themselves, they stand by themselves, therefore linear writing styles are disregarded
– relationships are multiple, nodes can link to each other
– there is no ‘structure’ that is ideal

Hopefully will expand after Elliot’s blog post!
