ALLLLLRIGHTY THEN

I guess it finally begins….
Why so late I hear none of you asking? Well let me explain. MY HOUSE IS A PRISON!!! You literally can get nothing done in it. Whether it’s coming home to piles of dishes or nearly putting your modem through the wall because it’s the fourth day without internet, it ends up breaking you and all you can do is sit in the shower which goes hot than cold in quick succession and cry. In saying that I am going to take myself on a little journey down memory lane and rewrite all my fundamental lack of understanding and knowledge from this years unlectures. I also despise the fact that we are calling them unlectures but I feel like if i start talking on that topic my blog will become more of a hate rant than anything productive.

So, I’ll be brutally honest, after all honesty is the best policy right?
I was away for the first two weeks and due to this fact I have been behind all semester. It also means that I have little to no idea what happened in the tutorials. I was however given notes on the lecture and from this I will try and devise an average post for all of you not to read, because lets face it, I could be writing anything I want here and none of you will read it.

The first thing to really grab my attention when it came to this unlecture (which I was now reading out of a book) was the idea of being self-motivated. Already I knew that this subject was going to be hard. I simple hyphened word was going to be the demise of a promising second semester (it wasn’t really promising to start off so don’t worry).
I fully understand the need to be self-motivated, but by god, it’s just so hard. There’s so many shocking television shows, vines, twitter feeds and pictures of peoples lunch that I MUST SEE!

The thing that really gets me motivated is fear. The fear of failure, the fear that Eliot is actually sitting at his desk wishing that I had in fact done 16 blogs (are you crazy). The reality of it is that Elliot is trying to work out what happens next in Game of Thrones. Or he has crumbled and starting reading the books (if this is the case and you tell me anything I will hurt you)
It’s fear that makes me do my work. No one wants to fail. No body wants to have to repeat.

Now if you couldn’t already tell, I am a ranter. Mostly it is more constructive and more directed and this falls in with my second aspect of the lecture that I liked. “Online Reputation.” It’s almost a given that there are naked photos of me somewhere on the internet. Now I didn’t put them there, and if you ever come across them you will understand why. But that’s not the point. I firmly believe that if you can keep your private life away from the web you are going to be relatively safe.
In saying that some of my writing may be a bit risque! The sites that I write for don’t necessarily have the cleanest outlook on everything and it’s kind of a no holding back workspace. However, due to this there are some issues I will just not touch. I write rather on pop culture and stay clear of the big issues.
It’s only recently that I have started writing about things that are a bit more difficult to tip toe down the fence. I’m not one to hold back my point of view but I am also very aware that what you say on the web can seriously come back and haunt you.
For instance, just recently, Justin Carter a teenager from Texas was jailed after saying this online;

“Oh yeah, I’m real messed up in the head, I’m going to go shoot up a school full of kids and eat their still, beating hearts”

The full article is above….

So I guess the conclusion I’m trying to come to is that I believe that the internet is a great place for you to build your online reputation. There is however great risks and one should always be careful with what they say on the internet. The fact is that almost anyone can see our work and almost anyone can take it the wrong way. So think twice before you post something on the web.
