Another World: Project Brief 4

My experience gained from Another World has really given me the tools needed to create something really special, bringing forth merely an idea I once had and helping me flesh it out to its proper potential. My world of ‘Kalleron’ was something that I felt could be really great fun, after creating this first instalment , the chance to further develop this world opened up the potentials for so much more and I have so many more ideas going forward.

What I took away from this class and what I was able to gain and then add into my final project, was how to break down my ideas. Also how to work backwards in a way. I always liked building worlds up first, but it would quickly be swept up by characters and plot. It was good to get the chance to dive into some lore and history of the world first and I tried to bring that into my own work by setting up ruins, time jumps, creatures, past references. etc… really trying to make things in the world feel like their own characters, like they retain a true presence and have a great history to them. I wanted to just lay down foundations that could be explored in future telling whilst still setting up the world here successfully . Thats what I gained out of my world, a series of saga’s and adventures I feel that could be played out over a series of game instalments, each focusing on new parts of the world and different time eras.

It was great to be able to learn all the things I did in the  Another World studio having the people around me to help and learn from them, hearing all  their ideas was really encouraging. We all bounced off each other so well, work in groups we could flesh out our worlds and help build in stories and characters. I think the last class for me really symbolised how the studio really summed everything up for me. A big reading circle, full of creative people, ideas and a lot of world building.

In the end my world was better enhanced and only found creation because of the experience of this studio and I hope that people enjoy playing Kingdoms Unknown: Legend of Ebony, as one of the many first stories set in the amazing world of Kalleron and the Kingdom’s Unknown franchise.

I declare that in submitting all work for this assessment I have read, understood and agree to the content and expectations of the assessment declaration.
