Symposium recap in 35 seconds

The symposium this week had me struggling more than a lil’ bit.

The main idea that captured my imagination was the idea that databases are lists, rather than stories. I like the idea of applying that to the whole world as a huge database or list of artefacts, and it is only through human experience that we can piece together those lists, piece by piece, taking as many or as little as we please and create our own stories. Its the whole ‘if a tree falls in a forest’ type of mindf*ck that really gets me going. But really the world is just shapes and colours, and then cells and heartbeats and neurons come along and try to make stories out of it all, to add some level of meaning to this thing called lyf.
