Another World – Presentation Preparation 18/04/2017

The process of developing my piece (as well as my presentation to be made on Wednesday) has highlighted to me a better idea as to how my scope for the piece and what it is that will delivered for the final assessment have slightly shifted. Given as I am an still unsure as to if I will submit an actual finished short film will ultimately depend on variables which at this point I cannot gauge such as availability and time, this is why I will most likely avoid highlighting my project outcome during the presentation unless asked. I have learned that visuals are indicative to portraying my world and thus regardless of my direction I take with my piece post-presentation, there will be a visual element to the submission, even if it is just a script made out to be like a messenger conversation.

While the feedback given from the presentation will be the most important aspect to guiding my piece moving forward, from the past three weeks it has become clear as to play on the comedy of the piece somewhat more than I intended to ensure audience engagement across the piece.

My work in progress consists of a list I have been comprising of various emojis and how they would translate when begin shown physically, this is just a single page of several but it highlights some of the means in which i will get across the comedy aspect of my piece. Beneath I have also featured the video I will be using in my presentation which will work in tandem with my presentation, with certain key words in my speech being shown behind in the video, this will require me to practice my presentation several times so I can get my speed synced up perfectly.

MOCK-UP CONVERSATION BETWEEN CHARACTERS

Another World – 5/04/2017

With a measurable shift in the focus of the course, now centered more on allowing us to develop our own worlds as we begin the first stages of developing for our presentation pitch assessment which will see us pitch a world in which a narrative will exist and become realised. At this point I personally am at a crossroads between two ideas which i hold valid and have potential benefits to both. My first of which has a much larger scope and production wise will be much more demanding should it transpose into an actual project while the other is far more minimalistic in terms of requirements but holds a much stronger premise and in some ways challenges the existing conventions of world with an absence of certain specific elements such as landscape. (This idea being shot in a black space in which only characters can be seen and the world being void of any life). In some ways this second option could have interesting topics to discuss retrospectively in my final reflection as it will have a much heavier focus on other elements of world such as conventions and dynamics. The first idea while having this to a lesser degree is diametric in terms of landscape and will require visceral landscapes and use this at the forefront of establishing the world. Todays class will assist in developing and discussing my ideas and will most likely give me some more motivation in one direction or the other.
