PROJECT: SCHOOL CONCERT

Unfortunately, I had to leave yesterdays class an hour early. The reason for this is because my old high school, St. Margaret’s in Berwick, hired me to help them film and edit 4 short films for the senior school music concert on the 15th and 16th of August. I tried not to let this interfere with uni work, but unfortunately uni coincides with school hours, and majority of rehearsals that I need to film are between 9am-5pm. So, I had to leave early to make it in time for the orchestras rehearsal.

The reason why I am doing this job is because when I was in high school, me and my co-school captain always thoroughly enjoyed making short films for the assemblies. They could translate so much more than a speech could at times. Now, beginning my media degree and having been a major participant in the music department during highschool, I was called back for to help – and I was happy to.

Recently, my video camera broke from old age – a devastating blow for someone who loves recording every second – so I have had to result to using a Canon SX40HS. It’s not bad and has been working pretty well for me so far. Thanks to writing media texts, I’ve learnt how to manually change a lot of the features – something I was always confused about in digital cameras. Here’s hoping I can bring all the knowledge I’ve learnt in first semester to this job! And after completing it, I intend to put the money I earn towards a digital SLR. I’ve always wanted one to shoot with and I see this as a perfect opportunity to work towards that goal.
