water does not care that sugar is sweet.
sugar is not ~quenched w/ water.
nevertheless, these objects matter to one another.
what is significant (between the pair) is not the same as what is significant to us.
the objects have meaningful properties (to one another) independently of those which we find meaningful.
(i must consistently remind myself i do not matter in their relationship)
