Bad Luck

Unfortunately my laptop was knocked off my bookshelf by someone I won’t identify… and has completely stopped working.

It’s now being diagnosed at an Apple Store and I’ll find out on Friday or Monday what exactly is wrong with it. From doing a bit of research, it’s most likely a problem with the hard drive. Which is most likely dead. Luckily, I’d backed up my files a couple of weeks ago so I haven’t lost too much work, although I have lost a little.

I had written up a complete call sheet, cast contact and details sheet and collected a number of visual references. These, along with some recent digital photos I’d taken, are all potentially lost (fingers crossed they’re not). In the meantime, I’m going to have to re-do all of this.

It’s definitely a lesson in backing up files. Especially when it comes to filmmaking, it’s absolutely vital that I ensure consistent backing up in case unforeseen events like this happen. I’ll be syncing all of my files to my external hard drive and iCloud every day from now on (once I get my laptop back).
